Bannock for Voyageurs

Ingredients Needed for the Recipe

  • Flour (4 cups)
  • powdered milk (1 quarter)
  • cream of tarter (1teaspoon)
  • Baking Powder (2 tablespoon)
  • Salt (1 ½ teaspoon)
  • shortening (1 cup)
  • sugar (2 tablespoons)


Cooking instructions:

To bake this bannock you need to use a pastry blender. Mix all the ingredients with it. Make an even mixture, then yield a 5-cup mixture, add water gradually and mix well while you add it. Get a thick batter and cook it in the skillet with some grease. Make sure you turn the batter halfway.

Variations/Hints:

You can transform this recipe into a pancake recipe by adding egg mix and more water.
