Ready-to-Eat Snacks

While snacks are usually kids’ favorite camping food, who says you can’t take some bags of delicious biscuits or cereal bars and transform them into the most nourishing meals ever? You should stop basing all your cooking and eating decisions on the fact that you are going to use a stove on your trip, because chances are something goes wrong and you won’t be able to use any fire and boiled water. So having some nice ready-to-eat food supplies is absolutely mandatory.

You can also add your own personal touch of taste to these snacks and mix together everything you love, such as dried fruits and peanuts to biscuits and jelly beans. Pick up a few packs of trail mix or similar snacks that are high in protein and vitamins. They’re fairly inexpensive and can provide a great option when you’re on the move and hungry. Another great idea is any food that you can eat cold, such as cans of spaghetti, sandwiches, or snacks that don’t have to be heated.

Frozen Food

As for the frozen foods’ compartment, you can use ice to store them in coolers. However, these foods should be limited. They’re not only generally heavy, but if some unforeseen circumstance comes up and you’re stuck in the woods longer than you’d planned, the ice can melt and  your food can ruin.

Emergency Food

Foods that are extremely rich in calories can be real life saviors in extreme emergency cases, such as snow storms. Apart from the fact they are light-weighted, they are also extremely nourishing and they are the perfect meal for light-hiking lovers. Such an example of caloric food is peanut butter that comes in unbreakable bottles made of soft plastic and they do not require any repackaging. If you’re allergic to peanut butter, you can always opt for chocolate and cheese and enjoy the same results. Regardless emergency food is an easy camping food to pack.

Eggs, Fruits and Vegetables

You need to eat a lot of fiber every day so you can avoid constipation, so carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers, green peppers, but also apples, bananas, strawberries and eggs are great examples of foods that can really contribute to your daily well-being.

Spices

Don’t forget to pack salt, pepper, soy sauce or tomato sauce. Add any condiment or spice that you like to enhance the flavor of your camping food with!

Beverages

As for the drinks you should pack, juice boxes and packed milk are always refreshing. Nonetheless, your main focus should be on potable water, and bringing a water purification device can be very handy. Remember you can only survive a few days without drinking water, so you should focus on carrying more water, instead of foods.

Finally, make sure you strictly follow all the minimal sanitation rules, such as washing your hands before eating using some hand-wipes and a squeeze-bottle of rubbing alcohol. This way, you will avoid any mishaps and you will be able to enjoy a great time camping with some great camping food.
